## Getting ashore

Cruise ships berth at [Port Tampa Bay](https://www.porttb.com/cruise/terminal-guide/) on the Ybor Channel in the Channelside district. Terminal 2 is at 651 Channelside Drive, Terminal 3 at 815 Channelside Drive, and Terminal 6 at 1333 McKay Street. The walk from the ship to the terminal exit is short. The free [TECO Streetcar](https://www.tecolinestreetcar.org/) runs on the road in front of the port. You are already close to downtown shops and the Riverwalk.

## Watch-outs

Do not head for the airport or Port Ybor. Those are not the cruise terminals. Terminal numbers change by ship and day, so use the address on your papers. The Riverwalk and Channelside are flat and mostly shaded, but summer heat builds. The first taxi queue outside may be for longer trips. Walk along it for a short ride into the city.

## Getting into Tampa

Channelside and the [Riverwalk](https://thetampariverwalk.com) sit right outside the terminals. A five-minute walk reaches the [Tampa History Center](https://www.tampabayhistorycenter.org) and the Columbia Restaurant. The free streetcar stops in front of the port and runs toward Ybor City. Downtown is a short ride if you prefer not to walk. A taxi or rideshare from the terminal is the other way in.

## Taxis & ride apps

Taxis and rideshares wait outside each terminal. A short hop into downtown is about $10-15. Agree the fare or check the app before the car moves. On the way back, name the exact terminal and street from your documents. The rank is at the terminal exit, not beside the gangway. Uber and Lyft also pick up at marked spots.

## What to do nearby

Walk the [Riverwalk](https://thetampariverwalk.com) along the Hillsborough River. Cross the Kennedy Avenue bridge for the [H.B. Plant Museum](https://www.plantmuseum.com) at the University of Tampa. The Florida Aquarium sits next to Terminal 2. Channelside has shops and casual food a few minutes from the exit. The History Center is five minutes on foot.

## Going further

Ybor City is a short streetcar or taxi ride. The beaches take longer, about 30-45 minutes by car. Book a return in advance if you leave the port area. Longer trips need a full day. The streetcar is free and runs in front of the terminals.

## Food & shopping

The Columbia Restaurant near the History Center serves Cuban sandwiches and Spanish bean soup. Channelside has food courts and shops. Downtown cafés sit a short walk or streetcar ride away. Cards are widely accepted. Prices are about standard US tourist rates.

## Opening times & connectivity

Shops open around 10. Many close by 6 or 7. Mobile signal is good across Channelside and downtown. Some spots offer free Wi-Fi. Use the currency link for US dollars.

## Accessibility & mobility

The port does not describe the gangway, the steps, or a wheelchair route inside Terminal 2, 3, or 6. Ask the ship what getting off is like that day. A disabled parking permit or license tag does not, by itself, make parking free. The parking FAQ says posted rates still apply except as Florida Statute 316.1964 provides. The waiver is limited to a vehicle with a ramp, lift, or foot or hand controls, a Florida Toll Exemption permit, or a Florida disabled-veteran plate under Florida Statute 320.084. The veteran the plate was issued to must be in the vehicle. You show a Florida driver's license and the registration, and the attendant fills in a short form. Attendants will not waive the fee for any other reason. The port says that parking is only at 810 Channelside Drive and 1331 McKay Street, when a ship is in port, and subject to availability. Nothing opened here says the Riverwalk or Water Street is step-free from every terminal.
