## Getting ashore

Most cruise ships use a floating dock about 6 miles north of downtown Sitka. A free shuttle bus runs from the dock to Harrigan Centennial Hall in town. The ride is 10 to 15 minutes. Some ships anchor and tender passengers downtown. Check your ship notice. The terminal has shops and WiFi.

## Watch-outs

The walk from the floating dock into town is too long. Use the free shuttle. Note the pickup point at Harrigan Centennial Hall for the return. Weather can change quickly. The first taxis may be for tours. Agree the fare before you leave.

## Getting into Sitka

Take the free shuttle from the dock. It drops you at Harrigan Centennial Hall, near the harbor and the visitor center. From there, the town center is a short walk. No public bus number is needed for this hop. Taxis are available if you miss the shuttle. A printable map is at the visitor desk.

## Taxis & ride apps

Taxis wait near the dock and in town. A ride into the center is about US$15-20. Ride apps are limited in Sitka. Name the cruise dock or Harrigan Centennial Hall for the return. The rank is outside the terminal area.

## What to do nearby

Walk from Harrigan Centennial Hall to the harbor and O'Connell Bridge. The Russian Bishop's House and St. Michael's Cathedral are nearby. The New Archangel Dancers perform when ships are in. This loop stays in town and needs no ticket.

## Going further

The Raptor Center and Fortress of the Bear are short taxi rides. These take time. Book if you want a guided visit. Stay near the harbor if the ship has a short stay.

## Food & shopping

The waterfront has shops for local crafts and gifts. Cafes serve coffee and seafood. Carry small bills. Ask the price if no menu is posted. The terminal has gift shops.

## Opening times & connectivity

Shops open about 9 to 5. English is spoken. WiFi is at the terminal. Save a map of the dock offline. Ask staff for the emergency number.

## Accessibility & mobility

The terminal operator says the building is fully ADA accessible, with ramps and accessible restrooms, and that ADA shuttles are available. That describes the terminal, not the ship's gangway or a tender boat. Ask the ship what getting off is like that day. The tribe says Ride buses have lifts or ramps and that drivers deploy them on request. Visit Sitka says those buses are wheelchair accessible. At the national historical park, a paved trail with curb cuts leads from downtown to the visitor center. The park says the trails are generally about six feet wide, relatively flat, and surfaced in crushed gravel, and it calls them wheelchair-friendly. Ice or mud is possible. A wheelchair is available at the visitor center. The Russian Bishop's House first floor is wheelchair accessible. A staircase leads to the second floor. Alaska State Parks says a fully accessible walkway leads to the top of Castle Hill. None of this means every downtown street is step-free.
