## Getting ashore

Ships dock at [Nawiliwili Harbor](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Nawiliwili+Harbor+Kauai+Cruise+Pier) . You walk off the pier onto the dock. Kalapaki Beach and Harbor Mall are a short level walk. The Aloha Center is a block away. Lihue town is about 2 miles inland.

The walk to Lihue has a hill and little continuous sidewalk or shade. Kalapaki Beach has limited shade. Taxi and rideshare availability can be thin when ships are in. Confirm return times for any longer trip. Bring water and sun cover.

## Getting into Lihue

Kalapaki Beach is about 10 minutes on foot from the pier. Harbor Mall is the same distance. Lihue is a short taxi or bus ride. A Kauai Bus stop is near Harbor Mall. No free shuttle into town.

Wailua Falls is a short drive. Poipu Beach is about 25 minutes south. Waimea Canyon needs a longer car or tour. Car rental is at Lihue Airport, a five-minute taxi away. Book ahead if you want a car.
