Getting ashore
Cruise ships dock right next to the Aloha Tower in the center of Honolulu. You step off into the Aloha Tower Marketplace with shops and restaurants. The walk from the ship to the terminal is short. The city center is right there.
Watch-outs
The walk to Waikiki is longer, about 10 minutes by car or bus. Agree taxi fares before you leave. The sun is strong. The first taxis may be for airport runs. Walk further for a city ride.
Getting into Honolulu
The Aloha Tower Marketplace is in the center. From there, walk into downtown or take the bus or trolley toward Waikiki. The path on foot to downtown is short and flat. Taxis wait outside if you prefer. A printable map is available at the marketplace.
Taxis & ride apps
Taxis line up outside the terminal. A short ride to Waikiki is about US$15-20. Ride apps work in Honolulu. Name Aloha Tower for the return. The rank is outside the terminal.
What to do nearby
Walk the marketplace and the waterfront. Downtown Honolulu has shops and the palace nearby. This area is easy on foot and needs no ticket for the streets.
Going further
Waikiki Beach is a short bus or taxi ride. Pearl Harbor is further. These take time. Book if you want a guided visit. Stay near the tower if the ship has a short stay.
Food & shopping
The marketplace has shops and waterfront restaurants. Carry small bills. Ask the price if no menu is posted. Many places take cards.
Opening times & connectivity
Shops open about 9 to 6. English is spoken. WiFi is available in cafes. Save a map of Aloha Tower offline. Ask staff for the emergency number.
Accessibility & mobility
Ask the ship what the gangway is like on the day. No HDOT page opened here describes steps, a lift, or a wheelchair route at Pier 2 or Pier 11. The September 2023 work at Pier 2 organized ground transportation on Channel Street and the exit toward Papu Street. That is a traffic layout, not a promise of a level walk to Aloha Tower, Chinatown, or the palace. TheBus cash fare is exact change if you do not use a HOLO card, and no opened page puts a stop at the gangway. Skyline does not serve these cruise piers. Iolani Palace is a historic building. The visit page does not rate the walk from the harbor. At Pearl Harbor, do not confuse the free visitor center with the historic ships, and do not drive onto the restricted Ford Island bridge.
