Getting ashore
Ships dock at Port Everglades. The terminal is not in the city centre. A taxi or shuttle takes you to the beach or downtown. Check your terminal. Walking out is not practical.
Watch-outs
The port is separate from the beach. Traffic can be heavy. Do not walk the access roads. Confirm the terminal for return. Sun is strong in summer.
Getting into Fort Lauderdale
Taxis and rideshares wait at the terminal. The beach is a short ride. Downtown is close. Use the official stand. Public transport is limited.
Taxis & ride apps
Official taxis queue outside. Uber and Lyft operate. Give the terminal number. The queue is at the exit. Agree the destination clearly.
What to do nearby
The beach and Las Olas are the main draws. You need a short ride first. Keep plans simple. The port itself has little walking.
Going further
Other beaches or attractions need a taxi. The drive can take 20 minutes or more. Book a return. Watch traffic.
Food & shopping
The beach area has casual food and shops. Prices are about standard US levels. Cards are accepted.
Opening times & connectivity
Shops open mid-morning. Beach places vary. Mobile signal is good. Some spots have Wi-Fi. Use the currency link for dollars.
Accessibility & mobility
The port describes each cruise terminal as fully accessible, with seating and restrooms. That does not describe the gangway or the walk outside the gate. Broward buses at the north end may not stop at your terminal. Book a wheelchair-accessible taxi before you leave for the beach, and ask the ship about the gangway on the day.
