Getting ashore

Ships berth at the cruise terminal, close to the centre of Gijón. The old town and the beach are both a short walk.

Watch-outs

Gijón is a northern Spanish port with a changeable climate, and the coast is windy. Sunday trading is limited.

Cimadevilla

The old fishing quarter of Cimadevilla is on a headland above the port, with narrow streets and cafés. Its viewpoint over the bay is popular.

Playa de San Lorenzo

The city beach is a long sandy stretch with a promenade, bars and restaurants.

Asturias

The region has the Covadonga lakes and the Picos de Europa mountains, reached by road. Cider houses are a regional speciality.

Food & shopping

Asturian food includes fabada, cider and seafood. The cider houses and the old town restaurants are the easiest choice.

Money & connectivity

The currency is the euro. Cards are accepted almost everywhere, and ATMs are common in the city.

Accessibility & mobility

The terminal and the beach are flat. Cimadevilla is steep with steps. Ask your operator for accessible transport.
