Getting ashore

The passenger port is about 300 metres from the main square, Titov trg, with its cathedral, cafés and tourist sights. Sometimes shuttles run, but the walk is only about five minutes. A lift across the road takes you up to the old town.

Watch-outs

Koper is small, and the old town is compact. Shops close early on Sundays. The sun is strong on the square.

Old town and the square

Titov trg is the centre of the old town, with the Cathedral of the Assumption, the Praetorian Palace and the Loggia. The old streets have Venetian-style houses.

Piran

Piran is a small coastal town on the Slovenian coast, about 30 minutes by bus. Its old streets and harbour are a pleasant outing.

Slovenian coast and Istria

Istria is across the border in Croatia, and the coast has beaches and small villages. Tours cover the wine and olive oil routes, and the Postojna Cave is a popular day trip inland.

Food & shopping

Slovenian food includes štruklji, a rolled dough dish, and fresh seafood. Olive oil and wine are good buys. Restaurants on the square are easy to reach.

Money & connectivity

The currency is the euro. Cards are accepted in most places, and ATMs are in the town.

Accessibility & mobility

The port and the square are mostly flat. The old town has steps and steep lanes. The lift helps reach the upper streets. Ask your operator for accessible vehicles for coastal trips.
