## Getting ashore

Ships call at Praia da Vitória, on the Azores island of Terceira. Transfers run to Angra do Heroísmo, the old town and UNESCO site.

## Watch-outs

The Azores weather changes quickly, with wind and rain. Book transfers in advance, as the port is some distance from the town.

## Angra do Heroísmo

The historic town is a UNESCO site, with a harbour, the Sé cathedral and the old fortresses.

## Terceira island

The island has volcanic craters, pastures and the Algar do Carvão, a volcanic chimney you can visit.

## Food & shopping

Azorean food includes cozido, the stew cooked in the ground, and fresh tuna. Local cheese and wine are good buys.

## Money & connectivity

The currency is the euro. Cards are accepted in most places, and ATMs are in the towns.

## Accessibility & mobility

The port is flat, but the old town is hilly. The Algar has steep stairs. Ask your operator for accessible vehicles.
