## Getting ashore

Ships call at IJmuiden, a port on the North Sea coast about 30 minutes west of Amsterdam. Transfers into Amsterdam are by coach or train. Check your ship's notice for the terminal.

## Watch-outs

IJmuiden itself is industrial, so the port area has little to see on foot. Allow time for transfers and keep the return time clear.

## Amsterdam by transfer

Amsterdam's canals, museums and the Rijksmuseum are reached by train or coach. The train to Amsterdam Centraal is the quickest route.

## Zandvoort and the beach

Zandvoort is a seaside resort nearby, with a long sandy beach, dunes and beach clubs, reached by bus or train.

## Haarlem

Haarlem, a historic city with a cathedral and a pleasant centre, is a short train ride from IJmuiden.

## Food & shopping

Dutch food includes herring, cheese and stroopwafels. Cafés in Haarlem and Zandvoort are the easiest choice.

## Money & connectivity

The currency is the euro. Cards are accepted almost everywhere, and ATMs are common.

## Accessibility & mobility

The terminal and the transfer coaches are step-accessible. Amsterdam's old canal streets have cobbles and bridges with steps. Ask your operator for accessible transport.
