## Getting ashore

Ships dock at the purpose-built [Costa Maya](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Costa+Maya+cruise+port+Mexico) pier. A free trolley runs from the ship to the terminal building. The pier can be long if walking is hard. The pier-side village has free pools, restaurants, bars, and shops. You step off into a cruise village, not a local town.

## Watch-outs

The village is designed for cruise passengers. Outside the gates, Majahual is a short taxi ride. The pier is open and can be hot. The first taxi queue may be for beach packages or longer tours. Walk further for a simple ride into Majahual. Agree the fare before you leave.

## Getting into Majahual

Majahual is about an 8 US dollar taxi ride from the port. The village has a small beach, shops, and restaurants. The free trolley stays inside the port area. A taxi or golf cart is the way into town. On the way back, name Costa Maya cruise port.

## Taxis & ride apps

Taxis and golf carts wait outside the terminal. A ride into Majahual is about $8. Hourly rentals are also offered at the kiosk. Agree the price before the vehicle moves. Uber is limited here. The rank is just outside the terminal exit.

## What to do nearby

The port village has free-to-use pools, including a large one with a swim-up bar, plus restaurants and shops. A small rocky beach with hammocks sits at the pier. Tours and beach packages are booked at the kiosk outside the terminal. Majahual is the local village a short ride away.

## Going further

Beach clubs and Mayan sites take longer. Book a return in advance. Most people stay in the port village or take a short taxi to Majahual. Longer trips need a full day.

## Food & shopping

The port village has restaurants, bars, and shops. Majahual has local food and souvenirs. Cards are accepted in the port area. Prices are about standard cruise-port rates.

## Opening times & connectivity

Port shops and restaurants open when ships are in. Mobile signal is good. Some spots offer free Wi-Fi. Use the currency link for Mexican pesos.

## Accessibility & mobility

Do not assume a step-free gangway or an accessible taxi. No page opened describes the ramp, a lift, or a wheelchair van. The malecón the tourism board describes is sand, and the about 3 to 5 km figure is not a walking route. Kohunlich's INAH card lists accessibility among its services and does not describe the path from this pier. Ask the ship about the gangway.
