## Getting ashore

Cruise ships dock at [Tourlos](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Mykonos+New+Port+Tourlos) , the New Port. [Chora](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Mykonos+Town+Chora+Greece) , the old town, is about a 30 minute walk. That path has no real sidewalk, so take the shuttle. The shuttle is usually about €8. The ship's notice names the stop, and where it picks up for the ride back. On rare days the ship tenders straight into the old town. Most days you are still at Tourlos, not in Chora.

## Watch-outs

The lanes in [Chora](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Mykonos+Town+Chora+Greece) are narrow, and the stone underfoot is uneven. A fast walk is hard on the feet. [Little Venice](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Little+Venice+Mykonos+Greece) and the [windmills](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Mykonos+windmills+Greece) stand in the open sun, with little shade at midday. Take water if you will be out in that sun. Scooters use some of the same lanes. The white streets look alike, so a wrong turn is easy. When several ships are in, the line for the ride back can be long.

## Getting into the city

A sea bus leaves from beside the berth at [Tourlos](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Mykonos+New+Port+Tourlos) . It is a small ferry into the heart of [Chora](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Mykonos+Town+Chora+Greece) . The fare is about €5 return. A KTEL bus also runs from the New Port into town. Both leave you where the old lanes begin. From there the windmills, Little Venice and the church are a walk, not another ride. The ship shuttle and the taxis are the other way in.

## Taxis & ride apps

A taxi from Tourlos to the centre of Chora takes about 5 minutes. The fare is about €10 for the car, one way, for up to four people. Taxis are few at the port. [Uber Taxi](https://www.uber.com/gr/en/r/cities/taxi/mykonou-notiou-aigaiou-gr/) books one of those local taxis, not a separate fleet. Agree the fare before the car moves. On the way back, name the New Port at Tourlos. The airport is about 4 km from town. That ride is not the short hop into Chora.

## What to do nearby

From the drop in town, walk out to the [windmills](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Mykonos+windmills+Greece) and [Little Venice](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Little+Venice+Mykonos+Greece) . Little Venice is the row of houses with balconies over the water. The windmills stand just above that shore. [Panagia Paraportiani](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Panagia+Paraportiani+Mykonos) is the old white church beside the sea, a cluster of small chapels. You can see these from the lanes without a ticket. The Archaeological, Maritime and Folklore museums are in the same town. This loop stays in Chora. [Agios Stefanos](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Agios+Stefanos+Mykonos+Greece) is a beach near the New Port, not part of this walk.

## Going further

[Paradise](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Paradise+Beach+Mykonos+Greece) and [Super Paradise](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Super+Paradise+Beach+Mykonos+Greece) need a bus or a taxi from town, not from the ship. Small boats also leave the old harbour for the beaches. [Delos](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Delos+Island+Greece) is a separate boat, about 30 minutes each way and about €10. The island is ruins, and no one lives there. Boats usually leave in the morning. The site often closes by early afternoon, and it is often shut on Mondays. A tour from the old port is about €30.

## Food & shopping

In the Chora lanes, small shops stand one after another. Gold jewellery is sold in many of them, beside souvenirs and clothes. Smaller shops sit on the side streets. Cafés and restaurants sit between the shops, and seafood and meze are the usual plates. Cafés in Little Venice face the water. Eat in these lanes. Pay in euros. ATMs are in town.

## Opening times & connectivity

Tourist shops and convenience stores in Chora often open early and stay open until well after midnight in summer. These hours are about the busy-season pattern. The New Port has shelters and Wi-Fi. In town, cafés often share Wi-Fi if you buy a drink. Mobile coverage in Chora is generally good. Greek is the local language, and English is widely spoken in the tourist lanes. For emergencies, call 112.

## Accessibility & mobility

The lanes in Chora are narrow, with uneven stone underfoot. They are not a reliable wheelchair route. The road in from Tourlos is not step-free. Ask the ship about the gangway and the shuttle from the berth. For town, book a car that can take a wheelchair, and give the New Port at Tourlos as the return address. A short line on a map does not mean a flat path.
