Getting ashore

Most larger ships anchor and tender passengers ashore to Adamas, on the north side of Milos Bay. Check your ship’s notice for the tender point.

Watch-outs

The tender landing can be busy, and the sun is strong. Buses are infrequent, so plan with a taxi or a driver for the beaches. Some shops close in the afternoon.

Adamas and the harbour

Adamas is the island’s port, with cafés, tavernas and boats for the coves. It is small and walkable.

Plaka and Klima

Plaka is the island’s capital, with whitewashed houses and a view over the bay. Klima is a fishing village of colourful houses built into the rock.

Sarakiniko and the beaches

Sarakiniko is a moonlike white rock beach, and the island’s colourful beaches are reached by boat or road. Kleftiko, a cliff cove, is a popular boat trip.

Ancient sites

The Catacombs of Milos and the Roman theatre at Plaka are the main historic sights. The Venus de Milo was found on the island.

Food & shopping

Greek food includes grilled fish, octopus and local cheeses. The island’s cafés and tavernas are the easiest choice.

Money & connectivity

The currency is the euro. Cards are accepted in most places, and ATMs are in Adamas and Plaka.

Accessibility & mobility

Adamas is flat, but the tender landing involves a step. Plaka and Klima have steep, stepped lanes. Beach access is rough, so ask your operator for accessible transport.
