Getting ashore

River cruise ships berth on the Main, and the city centre is within walking distance or a short tram ride. The river berth is set by the water level, so check your notice.

Watch-outs

The river level can change the berth and the timing. Frankfurt is a business city, and the centre is busy on weekdays. Shops close early on Sundays.

Römerberg and the old town

The Römerberg is the medieval square with the Römer town hall and the Frankfurt Cathedral nearby. The Römer and the Paulskirche are central sights.

Main embankment

The Museumsufer on the south bank has the city’s museums, including the Städel and the Liebieghaus, and the riverside walk is pleasant.

Frankfurt skyline and the views

The Main Tower has a viewing deck over the city and the skyline.

Day trips

Heidelberg, with its castle, is about an hour by train. The Rhine valley and Wiesbaden are also easy trips.

Food & shopping

Frankfurt is known for Frankfurter sausage, Handkäse and apfelwein (apple wine). Sachsenhausen has traditional apfelwein taverns.

Money & connectivity

The currency is the euro. Cards are accepted almost everywhere. ATMs are common in the centre.

Accessibility & mobility

The river berth and the embankment are flat. The old town and the Römer have level squares. Ask your operator for accessible transport.
