Getting ashore
Ships anchor off Tahaa, and passengers tender ashore to the Patio tender pier. Check your ship’s notice for tender times.
Watch-outs
Tahaa is a quiet island with few services. Bring what you need from the ship, including water and sun protection. The lagoon is shallow in places, so take care when moving between boats.
The lagoon and motus
Tahaa is ringed by a lagoon with small islets, called motus, with white sand beaches. Boat trips visit the motus for swimming and snorkelling.
Vanilla farms
Tahaa is known for vanilla. Some farms welcome visitors to see the vanilla vines and the curing process, and to buy vanilla products.
Food & shopping
Fresh fish, coconut and tropical fruit are the local food. The few restaurants serve simple meals, and prices are higher than in larger islands.
Money & connectivity
The currency is the CFP franc. Cards are accepted in some places, so carry cash. Mobile data is limited.
Accessibility & mobility
The tender landing and the boats are not easy for anyone with limited mobility. Motus have sand and no paved paths. Ask your ship and the operator about step access.
