## Getting ashore

Le Havre is the port; Paris is inland. [CruiseMapper's port information](https://www.cruisemapper.com/ports/le-havre-paris-port-47) places the capital roughly 200 km away. Ocean ships normally use the cruise facilities at Pointe de Floride; river ships have different quays. Check your actual terminal and approved exit before arranging a pickup. A city map marker is not a gangway location.

## Getting into Le Havre

The official tourist office lists terminal taxis and city-centre shuttles. Confirm whether a shuttle operates for your ship, its fare, drop-off and final return. Walking can be an option only on the approved route; do not assume a short distance across the docks is a public path. Ask terminal staff for the free city information and save your return point before leaving.

## A rewarding local day

Le Havre's reconstructed centre is a UNESCO World Heritage site, with Auguste Perret's postwar architecture rather than a medieval old town. Start around the Hôtel de Ville and continue towards Saint-Joseph church, whose tower and coloured glass are striking inside. Add the seafront or a café stop. Allow roughly two to three hours for a relaxed city walk, excluding transfers or a museum visit.

## Art by the waterfront

[MuMa, the André Malraux Museum of Modern Art](https://www.muma-lehavre.fr/en/pratique/informations/venir-au-musee) , is a good main attraction for Impressionist art. Check the day's opening and current exhibitions before heading there: its published closure day is Monday, with additional holiday closures. Allow about 60-90 minutes as a planning estimate. An art visit and seafront walk make a coherent local outing without spending hours on the road.

## Honfleur or Étretat

Honfleur offers an old harbour and timber-framed streets across the Seine estuary; Étretat is the choice for coastal scenery. CruiseMapper gives about 30 minutes driving to Honfleur under ordinary conditions, but that excludes pickup and traffic. Choose one destination, use a return transfer or date-specific public-transport plan, and confirm the return before leaving. At Étretat, stay away from cliff edges and do not attempt a beach route under the cliffs without reliable local tide and access advice.

## Paris: make the travelling time explicit

SNCF lists the fastest Le Havre-Paris trains at just over two hours, with many taking longer. Add the port-to-station transfer, waiting and travel across Paris before deciding whether an independent day works. A ship-organised excursion or transfer may be the practical choice. Select one area or one attraction; do not book a museum slot that depends on an exact train connection. Keep an earlier return option and allow for disruption.

## Food, costs and the return

Normandy is known for cider, cheeses and seafood. A local lunch leaves more time ashore than a rushed distant visit. Check menus and pay in euros; keep small cash for minor purchases. Obtain a current quote for any taxi or private tour, including waiting and the return. Do not use old fixed fares from archived guides. Work backwards from all-aboard, allowing for port security and the full terminal approach.

## Accessibility & mobility

Check the gangway angle, shuttle boarding and permitted terminal route with your ship. The local city centre may suit a shorter outing better than a full-day Paris transfer. Ask each museum or transport operator about the actual step-free route, toilets and assistance; accessibility at one station does not cover the whole rail journey.
