## Getting ashore

Ships call at the Savusavu wharf or anchor and tender passengers ashore. The town is small and walkable from the landing.

## Watch-outs

Sundays are quiet, and many shops close. Carry cash and water, and dress modestly away from the resorts.

## The town and the bay

Savusavu is a quiet town on the Vanua Levu coast, with a fishing harbour, a market and small shops.

## Waitabu and the hot springs

The Waitabu hot springs are near the bay, reached by road. A guide can show the sites and the local area.

## Fijian villages

Visits to the local villages are arranged through the operators. Ask about the protocol before you visit, including the sevusevu gift.

## Food & shopping

Fijian and Indian food are both good value, including curries, roti and fresh fish. Markets sell fruit and kava root.

## Money & connectivity

The currency is the Fijian dollar. Cards are accepted in larger places, and cash is needed for markets. Mobile data is limited.

## Accessibility & mobility

The wharf and town are mostly flat. Village visits and hot springs have uneven paths. Ask your operator for accessible vehicles.
