## Getting ashore

Ships anchor offshore and passengers are tendered to Golfito, a short walk from the downtown area.

## Watch-outs

Golfito is a small, humid town. Tender times depend on the wind, and the sun is strong. Bring water and sun cover.

## The town

Golfito was once a banana port and is now a quiet town with a waterfront, old company buildings and small shops.

## Golfo Dulce and the rainforest

The Golfo Dulce is a deep gulf with dolphins and whales in season. Boat trips and the Piedras Blancas National Park are the main outings.

## Wildlife

The region has howler monkeys, toucans and sloths, and tours visit the forest trails.

## Food & shopping

Costa Rican food includes casado, gallo pinto and fresh fish. Local sodas are the cheapest and best choice.

## Money & connectivity

The currency is the colón. US dollars are accepted in some places. Mobile signal is patchy.

## Accessibility & mobility

The tender landing involves a step. The town is flat, but the forest trails are steep and rough. Ask your operator for accessible vehicles and boats.
