Getting ashore

Cruise ships berth at Canada Place. The walk from the ship to the terminal is short. You step off near the city center. The Canada Line SkyTrain station is a couple of hundred feet from the terminal. Note the pier for the way back.

Watch-outs

The walk into downtown is short but can be busy. Agree taxi fares if you use one. Hills in some areas are steep. The first taxis may be for airport runs. Walk further for a city ride. Rain is common, so carry a light jacket.

Getting into the city

Downtown is a few minutes walk from Canada Place. Follow the waterfront or the main streets. The path is mostly flat and paved. The SkyTrain Canada Line is right at the terminal for longer rides. Taxis wait outside if the walk feels long. A printable map is available from the visitor center.

Taxis & ride apps

Taxis line up outside the terminal. A short ride into downtown is about CA$10. Ride apps such as Uber work in Vancouver. Name Canada Place for the return. The rank is outside the terminal, not beside the gangway.

What to do nearby

Walk to the waterfront and Gastown. The steam clock is a short walk. Stanley Park is a longer stroll or a short taxi. This area is easy on foot and needs no ticket. You can see the harbor without a tour.

Going further

The airport is a short SkyTrain ride on the Canada Line. Capilano Suspension Bridge is a taxi or tour. These take time. Book if you want a guided visit. Stay near the waterfront if the ship has a short stay.

Food & shopping

Downtown has shops and cafes. Gastown has more options. Carry small bills. Ask the price if no menu is posted. Many places take cards. The terminal has some shops if you stay near the ship.

Opening times & connectivity

Shops open about 10 to 6. English is the main language. WiFi is available in cafes. Save a map of Canada Place offline. Ask staff for the emergency number.

Accessibility & mobility

The port says the cruise terminal is covered by Canada's accessible-transportation rules for terminals. That does not describe every gangway or the hills around Gastown. Ask the cruise line before you book a cabin that needs step-free access, and ask at Waterfront station which elevator is open.
