Getting ashore

Ships berth at the Prince Rupert cruise terminal, within walking distance of the town centre and the waterfront.

Watch-outs

Prince Rupert is wet, with heavy rain for much of the year. Bring waterproofs. Services are limited on Sundays.

Totem Park

Totem Park has a collection of Indigenous totem poles, including poles carved by local artists, and the museum of the Northwest.

Waterfront and the harbour

The waterfront has shops, the Museum of Northern British Columbia and views over the harbour.

Khutzeymateen and wildlife

The Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary is reached by boat, and tours go to see grizzlies, whales and eagles.

Food & shopping

Northwest food includes salmon, halibut and Dungeness crab. Restaurants on the waterfront are the easiest choice.

Money & connectivity

The currency is the Canadian dollar. Cards are accepted almost everywhere. Mobile signal is good in town.

Accessibility & mobility

The terminal and waterfront are flat. Totem Park paths are uneven. Boat trips involve gangways. Ask your operator for accessible transport.
