Getting ashore
Ships berth at the Charlottetown cruise terminal, close to the waterfront and downtown. Check your ship’s notice for the berth and any shuttle.
Watch-outs
Prince Edward Island is a small province with long drives between sights. Summer is busy, so book tours in advance. Weather is changeable, and the sea breeze can be cool.
Charlottetown
The capital has the Confederation Centre of the Arts, the Province House where Canada’s confederation was agreed in 1864, and the waterfront boardwalk. The Victoria Row shopping street is a short walk from the terminal.
Green Gables and Cavendish
Green Gables is the house that inspired Anne of Green Gables. The Cavendish coast has long beaches and a national park. Allow a half day for the drive and the house.
Confederation Bridge and the north shore
The Confederation Bridge links the island to New Brunswick. The north shore has red sand beaches and lighthouses, and it is a scenic drive from the city.
Food & shopping
Island seafood is the speciality, including lobster, mussels and oysters. Cafés and restaurants in Charlottetown are the easiest choice. Shops close early on Sundays.
Money & connectivity
The currency is the Canadian dollar. Cards are accepted almost everywhere. Mobile signal is good in town.
Accessibility & mobility
The terminal and downtown are flat and step-free. Cavendish and the national park have boardwalks and paths, but some are uneven. Ask your operator for accessible vehicles.
