Getting ashore
Ships call at Búzios, a resort peninsula on the Rio de Janeiro coast. Passengers land by tender or pier. The town centre is walkable.
Watch-outs
Use official taxis or pre-booked transfers, and keep valuables out of sight. Check the current advice from your cruise line before you go.
Rua das Pedras
The main street, Rua das Pedras, is lined with cafés, boutiques and bars. Brigitte Bardot made the town famous in the 1960s.
Beaches and islands
Búzios has a series of beaches, including Praia da Ferradura and Praia Brava, and boats visit the small islands offshore.
Day trips
Arraial do Cabo, with its lagoon and beaches, is about an hour away. Rio is about three hours by road.
Food & shopping
Brazilian food includes fresh seafood, moqueca and pão de queijo. Restaurants on Rua das Pedras are the easiest choice.
Money & connectivity
The currency is the Brazilian real. Cards are accepted in most places, and ATMs are in the town.
Accessibility & mobility
The town centre is flat but the streets have uneven pavements. Beaches have sand and steps. Ask your operator for accessible transport.
