Getting ashore
MSC Ocean Cay is a private marine reserve in the Bahamas, used by one cruise line. Ships berth at its pier, and guests walk ashore to the beach area. There is no town nearby.
Watch-outs
The island is managed, so the sights and services are limited to what it provides. The sun is strong, and beaches have little shade. Check the bookings for water activities in advance.
The reserve and the reef
The island is part of a marine reserve, and the reef is protected. Snorkelling and diving are the main draws, and the rules on contact with the reef apply.
Beaches and water sports
The beaches and shallow water suit swimming and paddling. Water sports and equipment are available for a fee.
Food and bars
On-site bars and restaurants serve food and drinks. Prices are set by the island.
Money & connectivity
The currency is the US dollar, which is accepted across the island. Cards are accepted at most on-site outlets.
Accessibility & mobility
The pier and the main paths are mostly flat, but the sand is soft and some areas have steps. Ask the cruise line about wheelchair access and mobility options before you go.
