## Getting ashore

You come here only if your ship calls, with Holland America or Carnival. Papers may say Half Moon Cay or RelaxAway. It is the same private island. Some ships dock. The walk to the arrival area is about five minutes. Other ships stay offshore, and you come in by tender or water shuttle. That boat drops you at the entrance. Read your ship's note for which way you land, and for the last boat back.

## Watch-outs

There is no town past the beach. Do not set off looking for streets and shops. The sand is soft, and the sun is strong at midday. Take a hat, water, and the towel from your cabin. If you came by boat, the last tender or shuttle is the time that matters, not a guess. Come back to the same landing your ship named. The time that counts is the ship's all-aboard. Allow extra if you still have a boat to catch.

## Getting into town

This island is Little San Salvador. There is no town to wander into. The part set up for guests is the beach and the places your ship uses. Beyond that, the land is left alone. You cannot catch a bus into a harbour, because there is not one. You cannot stroll off the beach into a square. Stay inside the area marked for the call. If you want a longer walk, use a path the staff point out, and turn back in time for the ship.

## No town taxi

There is no town taxi, and no rank waiting for a ride into town. Ride apps do not serve this island. You do not need a cab, because there is nowhere for it to take you. On some calls a tram runs along the beach. It is free, it comes every few minutes, and a seat goes to whoever is there. Do not pay a person who offers a taxi into a town. There is not one. If walking is hard, ask the staff about the tram before you set off.

## What to do nearby

The beach is the day. Swim, or sit in the sun. Chairs and shade are set out along the sand. Bring the towel from the ship. If you want more than that, extras have included snorkelling, a kayak, a small sailboat, a glass-bottom boat, and a nature walk. Book a timed one with your ship, not with a stranger on the sand. No fare is printed in this guide. If a board shows a price, read it as about that amount, and check it again before you pay.

## Going further

There is no further town, fort, or second harbour. Do not plan a taxi to Nassau. It is about 100 miles from Nassau, and you have no public ferry for the day. A fishing boat, a nature trail, or a glass-bottom trip still has to be one your ship sells, with a return that beats all-aboard. Do not hire a boat on the beach. You would have no town dock to come back to. If the extra is not on your ship's list, stay on the sand.

## Food & shopping

There is no town café to walk to. Eat what the island serves for the call, or return to the ship for a meal you already know. Ask your line before you carry food or a drink ashore. Bars and shops on the island usually take the ship's card. A small souvenir stall may want cash. There is no cash machine here. The Bahamian dollar is on a par with the US dollar, and both are used in the country. Use the currency link if you want today's figure. Ask the price before you buy.

## Opening times & connectivity

The island is open for your ship, and it shuts when the ship leaves. There is no town opening hour, and no Sunday market to time. English is spoken. Charge your phone before you step off. A signal may roam, and it may not. Ask your line whether the ship's Wi-Fi follows you onto the sand. Save the all-aboard time where you can read it without a signal. If you need help, find the staff on the island, or use the number your ship gave you.

## Accessibility & mobility

Do not expect a flat path off every ship. A tender or water shuttle has a step. Do not assume anyone will carry you onto a small boat. Holland America marks wheelchair access as limited when the call is by tender. The beach is loose sand. Carnival says beach wheelchairs are free, first come, and that some trams can take a wheelchair. That is not every sailing. Ask your ship about the gangway, and whether you dock or take a boat.
