## Getting ashore

Danube ships use different landings. Check your berth in the cruise documents. Many stop along Handelskai near the Reichsbrücke. That spot is about 4 km from the centre. Some berths are closer. Confirm before you walk.

## Watch-outs

The berth may not be right in town. A taxi is often the best way in. Do not assume a short walk. The centre has cobbles in places. Timed tickets are needed for some palaces. Confirm the landing name for any pickup.

## Getting into Vienna

From Handelskai, take a taxi or the public transport into the centre. The Reichsbrücke area is the usual river stop. Trams and the U-Bahn reach Stephansplatz. The walk is long if you try it on foot. Plan the return the same way.

## Taxis & ride apps

Taxis queue near the berth or can be called. Give the exact landing stage. Uber operates in the city. Official ranks are in the centre. Agree the pick-up point so the driver finds you easily.

## What to do nearby

Stephansdom is the main landmark in the centre. The Hofburg and nearby streets are walkable once you are there. Keep the loop to the inner city if time is short. The cathedral steps can be steep.

## Going further

Schönbrunn Palace is a longer trip. Take the U-Bahn or a taxi. Book timed entry if you go. The Belvedere is another option. Check the time needed to get back to an outer berth.

## Food & shopping

Cafés serve coffee and cake such as Sachertorte. Local places offer schnitzel. The centre has shops along the main streets. Prices are about standard for a European capital. Many close early on Sunday.

## Opening times & connectivity

Shops open mid-morning and close earlier on Saturday. Most shut on Sunday. Museums need timed tickets in peak season. Mobile signal is good. Cafés often have Wi-Fi. Use the currency link for euros.

## Accessibility & mobility

Gangway slope changes with the river, and you may have to cross another ship. Ask your cruise line if you need step-free access. Not every U-Bahn station has a working lift: check the specific trip in WienMobil. The cathedral's main entrance has no steps, but the north tower is not a wheelchair route. Streets in the Innere Stadt are cobbled.
