Getting ashore

Ships dock at the Outer Harbor wharf. The upgraded Port Adelaide Passenger Terminal has a direct walkway to Outer Harbor railway station.

Watch-outs

Outer Harbor is some distance from the city, so plan your transfer. Trains run to the city, and taxis take about 15 minutes. Check the return times before you go.

Adelaide city

The city centre has Rundle Mall, the Central Market, the South Australian Museum and the Art Gallery. The parklands circle the centre.

Port Adelaide

The historic port town has old warehouses, the Port Adelaide Heritage precinct and the maritime museum.

Barossa Valley

The Barossa Valley is about an hour’s drive, known for Shiraz and German-influenced towns. Cellar door tastings are the main draw.

Kangaroo Island and the coast

Kangaroo Island is reached by ferry or flight, with wildlife and coastal scenery. The Glenelg beach is closer to the city, with trams from the centre.

Food & shopping

South Australian food includes Barossa wines, Coorong seafood and the Central Market produce. Cafés in the city and at Hindley Street are popular.

Money & connectivity

The currency is the Australian dollar. Cards are accepted almost everywhere. ATMs are in the city.

Accessibility & mobility

The terminal and the city centre are mostly flat. Port Adelaide has cobbled areas. Trains have level access at most stations. Ask your operator for accessible vehicles for the wine region.
